Biotest acquires plasma collection facility from Talecris Plasma Resources

Biotest Pharmaceuticals Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Biotest, Dreieich, Germany, has acquired a plasma collection facility in Santa Fe, New Mexico from Talecris Plasma Resources, a plasma donation center.

With this acquisition, Biotest Pharmaceuticals now operates 11 plasma centers in various locations throughout the US. In 2008, the company announced it had aggressive plans for further expansion during the next two years.

Biotest Pharmaceuticals said that it will continue to explore opportunities to expand its plasma collection operations to address the global demand for this very important source material. Financial terms of the purchase were not disclosed.

Rainer Pabst, CEO of Biotest Pharmaceuticals, said: “We are extremely pleased to add the Santa Fe facility to our network of plasma centers in the US. We are looking forward to continuing to build upon our existing foundation to reach our goals of continued growth and expanded range of top-quality plasma products.”
