news.P4 Healthcare and CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield have launched the P4 Pathways Program, an oncology treatment pathway program designed to promote the delivery of high quality, cost-efficient patient care.

The P4 Pathways Program is intended to help patients, physicians, and payors. Physicians who elect to participate will be rewarded for delivering the right patient care at the right time while helping to manage drug costs associated with quality oncology care.
Developed by P4 Healthcare under the guidance of Mid Atlantic academic and community oncologists, the P4 Pathways program is structured to encourage high quality, evidence-based standards of care. The pathways were designed to improve the care of patients with cancer and will be updated on a regular basis to incorporate new and effective clinical approaches.
Jeffrey Scott, president and medical director of P4 Healthcare, said: “Rewarding doctors for providing quality care certainly helps the patient, but the P4 Pathways Program will also allow payors to better understand and manage the costs associated with cancer care including the adoption of innovative therapies.”
