news.Eurand, a Netherlands-based specialty pharmaceutical company, has appointed Robert Becker to the newly created position of chief research officer of Eurand SpA. Mr Becker will be based at the company's Milan office and will oversee all research and formulation development activities worldwide.

Most recently, Dr Becker served as senior director of small molecule development international at Biogen Idec, where he managed all chemistry, manufacturing and controls-related small molecule activities.
Dr Becker’s background also includes a broad range of senior management positions in R&D at Lilly Research Laboratories and Boehringer Ingelheim.
