French drug maker Sanofi-Aventis plans to axe an unspecified number of US sales jobs as part of restructuring its sales force.

According to the company, the job reductions are aimed at trimming down its 6,500-person US sales force. However, the company did not disclose the number of job cuts.
Sanofi’s moves are in tune with restructuring plans of other drug makers like Novartis, GlaxoSmithKline and Merck who have reduced their sales force to scale down costs and increase sales.
