The decision came after a court ruled the Norvasc patent to be invalid.
Pfizer said it would make the generic amlodipine besylate product immediately through the company’s Greenstone subsidiary. The company said Norvasc also will remain available to patients.
Pfizer also said it will continue to pursue all available legal remedies to protect the market for Norvasc through a six-month pediatric exclusivity period that expires in September, 2007.
