Abbott net sales up in Q2

Drug and medical device maker Abbott Laboratories has reported net sales of $9.62bn for the second quarter ended 30 June 2011, an increase of 9%, compared to $8.82bn for the same period in 2010.

Abbott‘s net earnings were $1.94bn, compared to $1.29bn for the same period in the prior year.

The company’s operating earnings was $1.77bn for the second quarter ended 30 June 2011, as compared to $1.61bn for the same period in 2010.

For the six months ended 30 June 2011 net sales were $18.66bn, compared to $16.52bn for the same period in 2010.

Net earnings increased from $2.3bn in the last year to $2.81bn, for the six months ended 30 June 2011.

For the six months ended 30 June 2011, the company’s operating earnings were $3.07bn , as compared to $3.08bn for the same period in 2010.
