Alchem expands Sennosides facility production capacity in India

Alchem International has expanded the production capacity of Sennosides at its facility in Neemrana, Rajasthan, India.

Extracted from senna leaves and pods, Sennosides are used as laxatives in traditional and modern medicine preparations.

Alchem International president Raman Mehta said expansion of the company’s facility was necessary to answer the growing demand for 60% USP Sennosides.

"The fully automated facility has a production capacity of more than 75 metric tons per year," Mehta added.

"Alchem’s facility also incorporates a state-of-the-art laboratory control able to test USP monographs and to support our customers with Drug Master File requirements.

"With our long-time North American distributor, Ampak Co. in New York, and our recently opened U.S. liaison office, we’re able to better serve our North American customers by offering local inventory of 60% USP Sennosides and technical support."
