Alfa Laval to supply processing line for Malaysian insulin plant

Alfa Laval has signed a contract valued at SEK90m ($13.2m) with an undisclosed pharmaceutical company to deliver a processing line for an insulin plant in Malaysia.

The supply contract includes fermentation, fluid handling and tank cleaning equipment that constitute an entire processing line required for insulin production.

Alfa Laval Group CEO and president Lars Renstrom said the pharmaceutical industry requires hygienic and safe equipment that comply with the industry standards.

"This order is driven by the increased living standard and confirms our position as a reliable supplier to the industry," Renstrom added.

Alfa Laval, provider of specialized products and engineering solutions based on its technologies of heat transfer, separation and fluid handling, is expected to deliver the processing line by 2014.
