Anima Cell technology monitors protein production within living cells during study

Anima Cell Metrology said using di-peptide (DiP) technology it was able to monitor and image the process of protein production from within living cells, in a series of recently conducted experiments.

In the DiP technology, transfer RNA (tRNA) are extracted, purified, fluorescently labeled, and introduced into the cells to be monitored, claims the company.

tRNAs, which form part of the elements of the cell’s protein synthesis system, carry amino acids, which are the basic building blocks of proteins.

In addition, the DiP technology allows researchers to monitor and identify from where in the cell, and when, proteins are being produced.

Anima Cell Metrology founder and CSO Zeev Smilansky said," The ability to monitor protein synthesis in living cells will provide new, crucially needed data about how cells live, die, and react to normal and pathological stimuli."
