Aptuit, GSK extend strategic drug development deal

Aptuit and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) have extended strategic drug development partnership to carry out work at the Aptuit Center for Drug Discovery & Development in Verona, Italy.

Since Aptuit took over Verona site from GSK in 2010, it had 50 audits and carried out work for more than 90 clients.

Aptuit chairman Timothy Tyson said since the original agreement with GSK was finalized in 2010, Aptuit transformed the Verona site from a pharmaceutical research center to a world-class drug discovery and development outsourcing capability.

"Aptuit initiatives in Verona, such as Lean Six Sigma, are resulting in productivity benefits across our business lines," Tyson added.

"The high level of quality and regulatory compliance demonstrated in our work has been noticeable to the more than 200 customers who have visited the site since 2010."
