AtCor Medical Upgrades SphygmoCor Software

AtCor Medical, a developer and marketer of SphygmoCor system that measures central blood pressures and arterial stiffness non-invasively, has launched the latest SphygmoCor software (version 9) at the Annual American College of Cardiology Scientific Session Exposition.

The new SphygmoCor offers improvements to simplify clinical use, and will assist evaluation of cardiovascular status and management of patient care by medical specialists, particularly cardiologists, hypertension specialists, nephrologists and endocrinologists.

AtCor Medical said that the new features include a real-time ‘auto capture’ system which makes it easier for clinicians to capture cardiovascular data, and improved ‘clinically-friendly’ graphic reporting. The innovation represents the first stage of an ongoing program of development to broaden use of SphygmoCor in the specialist clinical market. Measurement of central blood pressure using SphygmoCor is made through a noninvasive ten-second measurement taken at the patient’s wrist, and test results are available instantly.

The new Auto Capture system assesses the quality of the radial pressure wave forms that are being monitored in real time, assists the operator with screen prompts on technique, and automatically captures test results once acceptable data has been recorded.

The new Platform also offers redesigned clinical reports, which support efficient and accurate tests interpretation with succinct, graphically simplified data displays. Clinical reports visually highlight test results that may indicate increased patient risk, such as elevated central pulse pressure.

Duncan Ross, president and CEO of AtCor Medical, said: “Our goal is to continually make SphygmoCor systems more easy and convenient for clinicians. We have a continuing dialogue with our customers and our applications engineers who train new customers, to uncover opportunities to improve our products and support services.”
