Forest Laboratories reports growth in Q1 revenue

Forest Laboratories has reported total revenue of $966.84 million for the first quarter of fiscal 2009, an increase of 4.2% compared to total revenue of $928.3 million for the same quarter of fiscal 2008.

The company posted net sales of $893.74 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2009, an increase of 6.1% compared to $842.61 million reported for the corresponding period of fiscal 2008.

Net income in the first quarter of fiscal 2009 was $242.92 million, a decrease of 9.4% compared to $268.2 million reported for the first quarter of fiscal 2008.

Howard Solomon, chairman and CEO of Forest, said: “We are pleased with the financial performance of the company reported this quarter, striking the balance between delivering a meaningful level of earnings per share and continuing to support and advancing a very significant product pipeline while also supporting our currently marketed products including the recently launched product, Bystolic.”
