B Braun Medical Constructs New Infusion Technology Facility In Germany

B Braun Medical has constructed a new infusion technology facility at its global headquarters in Melsungen, Germany.

The new, five-building, EUR77m B Braun manufacturing campus includes a plant dedicated to producing infusion pumps as well as facilities for research and development, services and training.

With an initial capacity of an estimated more than 207,000 pumps per year, the new facility is designed to meet an expanding world-wide demand for B Braun’s Space Infusion Systems.

Designed with both adult and pediatric facilities in mind, the small, lightweight Space Infusion System allows for flexibility and easy transport within a number of care settings.

At 9 inches by 6 inches and weighing only three pounds, the Space infusion syringe and large volume pumps can fit easily into a range of environments. The system, designed for higher acuity care facilities, offers a large drug library as well as the capability to stack up to 24 pumps in a single bedside tower.

Gale White, vice president of infusion systems marketing for B Braun Medical, said: “This is a unique business campus that is completely devoted to the development, manufacture and support of infusion devices. It will enable us to meet the increasing demand for high-quality syringe and large volume infusion pumps today and well into the future.

“Demand for B Braun’s Space Infusion Systems has expanded dramatically as hospitals and healthcare professionals look for safe, easy-to-use and reliable infusion pumps that can help them provide high-quality patient care, reduce medication errors and enhance their practice and productivity.”
