Aesthetic Sciences wins CE Mark for Smartfil dermal filler delivery system

Aesthetic Sciences, a developer of novel polymers and injection systems, has received the CE Mark for its dermal filler delivery system, the Smartfil power-assisted injection system.

According to the company, the Smartfil system is the first powered device approved to be used with dermal fillers and the first product in the new category of power-assisted injection systems. In clinical studies with 100 patients and 25 doctors, this system demonstrated unique benefits to the injection process.

The company believes that the controlled and smooth injection flow provided by this novel system will be well received by doctors and patients.

Aesthetic Sciences has engaged William Blair & Company to assist in its partnering efforts. In addition to a CE Mark, Aesthetic Sciences is pursuing regulatory clearance in the US.

Gary Petersmeyer, chairman and CEO of Aesthetic Sciences, said: “The Smartfil system is the first product in a new category of power-assisted injection systems. We are interested in partnering with a major company in the field of dermatology who can optimize the launch of this novel device.”
