Biotage launches new single channel microwave peptide synthesizer

Biotage has launched new automated single channel, programmable microwave peptide synthesizer, the Biotage Initiator+ Alstra.

The Initiator+ Alstra is useful for peptide chemists synthesizing peptides, peptoids, PNA and peptidomimetics, including complex modifications, for both small and large scale synthesis from 5µmol to 2mmol.

Biotage peptide product manager Dr. Amit Mehrotra said Initiator+ Alstra is a simple to use work horse which fills an important gap in the toolbox of the Peptide researcher.

"Its state of the art interface, simplicity of operation, speed, size and price are all optimized to match the increasing demands which Peptide Chemists are under today," Dr. Mehrotra added.

"This product is the result of customer input and demands and we are very excited to now be putting it into their hands."

The Initiator+ Alstra with a working volume from as low as 0.6mL, features robotic liquid handler and digital syringe pumps which reduces reagent and solvent consumption.

The peptide synthesizer is programmable through a touch screen with drag and drop functionality for optimizing pre-installed or user defined methods, according to Biotage.
