Boston Scientific has reported that it is planing to close the Florida’s stent manufacturing plant and is expected to move 1,400 jobs from the Miami area to Costa Rica by the year 2013, Miami Herald reported.
Earlier, the company has confirmed that from the middle of 2010 they will slowly start the closure of the Florida plant and will complete the work by the last of 2012.
Reportedly, the local politicians has informed the newspaper about the company’s plans, though the company has not declared it publicly.
Moreover, the officials of the Miami-Dade Beacon Council has reported that they have heard the company’s plan from the employees of the organisation.
Frank Nero, president of the Miami-Dade Beacon Council, said: “Anytime you’re going to have a loss of that many jobs, it’s significant. The organisation manages business recruitment and retention on behalf of the county government.
“It’s never a good thing when we’re trying to promote a cluster in life sciences and you lose a company like Boston Scientific. It’s just not good,” reported the newspaper.
