Burkert claimed that 6650 flipper solenoid valve sets new standards in the dosing of fluids in analytical technology applications with a pitch of only 4.5mm that offers performance equal to or better than comparable 10 and 16 mm valves.
Burkert said that 4.5 mm pitch makes the 6650 valves suitable for the automated filling of 384-well microtiter plates, which also use a 4.5mm matrix. Individual cavities can be filled not only quickly, but also individually, with different quantities and media. This opens up completely new possibilities for developing more efficient processes in many areas, such as clinical chemistry.
With the media separated 6650 flipper valve Burkert presents a compact, fast switching valve which has been optimised especially for reproducible and precise dosing of aggressive fluids. In addition to a 2/2 way version with a nominal diameter of 0.4 mm, the valve is also available as a universal 3/2 way version with a nominal diameter of 0.8mm. Therefore, the 6650 valve is ideal for demanding analytical applications requiring maximum fluidic capacities in a compact space.
The compact design can be used specifically in clinical chemistry, medical technology, the analysis of environmental parameters and also in industrial micro-dosing technology. Because of the small width, manufacturers of devices and systems can mount more valves in a smaller space, thus providing increased functionality.
The patented technology of the Burkert flipper solenoid valves is based on an elastomer element which in the 3/2 way valve moves between two opposing valve seats, opening one and closing the other. The common connection can be used as an inlet for distribution to one of the two seats or as an outlet for a mixer function. The media comes into contact only with the housing, made of PEEK, and the seal elements, made of FFKM – therefore, the IP65 valve is also suitable for dosing of aggressive fluids.
