Capsugel plant-based capsules manufacturing facility wins European Organic certification

Capsugel, a provider of natural, vegetarian organic dosage solutions, has secured European Organic certification for its manufacturing facility in Colmar, France, for the production of plant-based Licaps liquid-filled capsules.

Using the company’s Fusion technology, the capsule is hermetically sealed and contain no gelling agents.

The plant-based Licaps liquid-filled capsules also uses the company’s Vcaps Plus capsule technology, made from plant derived cellulose called Hypromellose.

Capsugel senior vice president and chief marketing officer Erasmo Schutzer said, "With our expertise, we can support customers in developing new organic finished products – including feasibility testing and certification requests – using our next generation plant-based Licaps capsules."

Capsugel EMEA marketing director Catherine Lehmann said the organic certification of Colmar facility for plant-based Licaps capsules adds to the company’s comprehensive line of vegetarian products for the healthcare market.

"From our recently introduced Plantcaps capsules to our innovative Vcaps Pluss capsules and Drcaps acid resistant capsules, customers have a range of vegetal origin capsule options that meet the demands of the savvy green customer," Lehmann added.
