news.Catalent Pharma Solutions, a global drug delivery technology and advanced supply solutions company, has revealed plans to expand its controlled release drug manufacturing facility in Winchester, Kentucky.

Around $35m is likely to be invested to expand the 100,000ft2 facility by almost 80,000ft2 of manufacturing space.
Expected to create as many as 90 new jobs, the expanded site is already under construction and will be complete by October 2014.
Catalent’s Winchester facility is already into advanced oral controlled-release drug formulation and manufacturing, launching over 100 products.
Commenting on the expansion, Catalent Winchester facility general manager Steve Havel said, "The expanded Winchester facility will provide our customers with enhanced access to custom equipment capabilities and our market-leading controlled release solutions and technologies."
Catalent president and CEO John Chiminski added, "Catalent has continued to build on its global leadership in advanced drug development solutions and advanced delivery technologies with major recent investments in controlled release forms, including fluid bed capacity, OptiMelt hot melt extrusion, and OSDRC OptiDose advanced tableting technologies."
The company had recently announced inhalation facility expansion in North Carolina, two new ventures in China for softgel technologies and clinical trial supplies, while completing biologics expansion in Wisconsin.
