news.WellPoint has appointed Kevin Hayden as the president of its state sponsored business division, effective April 21, 2008.

In his new role, Hayden will be responsible for leading WellPoint’s Medicaid business division which currently serves more than 2 million members in 14 states.
Prior to joining WellPoint, Hayden served as Secretary of the Department of Health and Family Services for the state of Wisconsin. In this role, Hayden was responsible for leading all public health and care delivery services to over 900,000 residents.
Brian Sassi, president and CEO of WellPoint’s Consumer Business Unit, said: “Kevin’s years of dedicated service to the health care sector coupled with his direct involvement to develop and shape Medicaid programs at the state level will help WellPoint continue to meet the needs of this important market segment.”
