ChemPartner, a Shanghai based pre-clinical research company, is planning to enter into the European market by establishing ChemPartner Europe in Copenhagen in November – reported Copenhagen Capacity, the official inward investment agency of the Danish Capital Region.
ChemPartner has said that it has selected Copenhagen as its base because it has a recognized biotech industry in Medicon Valley. Peter Halkjær-Knudsen, who has 20 years of biotech experience, is expected to take over as CEO of ChemPartner, Europe on November 1. He cited ease of establishment of a firm in Denmark as a reason for selecting Copenhagen as their base.
Ruth Klyver, business development manager, Life Science, Copenhagen Capacity, said: “Today you have to obtain the same result but quicker and with less money because risk willing capital from both the government and private investors has fallen drastically during the last few years. Consequently biotech companies will outsource several research and development tasks to, for example, contract research companies such as Shanghai ChemPartner in China.”
