Cool Containers to introduce non-dry ice active container

Cool Containers will launch PharmaPort -20ºC, a non-dry ice active container designed for pallet sized loads of frozen pharmaceuticals in the US.

The container, which leverages the company’s Pro-Tectic temperature storage technology and requires no dry ice, PCMs or other consumables, can be recharged using standard AC electrical power.

Cool Containers marketing and business development director Michal Rosenblum said many of the pharma companies using the PharmaPort 360 container for 5ºC shipments inquired about a lower temperature setting.

"When we started looking at the market for this frozen temperature range, we found that dry ice-cooled systems were the only option in pallet sized active containers – and there is certainly a strong trend to eliminate dry ice in Pharma logistics," Rosenblum added.

The new -20ºC version incorporates many of the same features of their original model, the PharmaPort 360, such as the easy-to-recharge temperature storage, and remote monitoring systems, according to Cool Containers.
