Covaris enters into marketing strategic alliance with Horiba

Covaris, a provider of acoustic technologies for the life sciences industry, has entered into a marketing strategic alliance with Japan-based Horiba's US sales and marketing division HORIBA Instruments.

Under the partnership, Covaris’s FS-220 GMP system and Horiba’s LA-950V2 platform will be integrated into a fully automated formulation preparation station with integrated Process Analytical Technology (PAT).

The combined platform will leverage Covaris’s adaptive focused acoustics and Horiba’s particle sizing technologies and enable clinicians to develop drugs by improving the quality of studies including First-In-Human (FIH) testing.

Covaris Process Technologies general manager Carl Beckett said the integrated system also reduces errors when handing off preparations between the Discovery and Development Research centers and the Contract Research Organizations by allowing a completely automated and documented method development.

"Additionally, as our clients scale to FIH and ultimately clinical processes, they need to ensure the methods in development are phase appropriate and based on scalable technologies," Beckett added.
