Smith & Nephew names new president for advanced wound management business

Smith & Nephew, a medical technology business, has appointed Roger Teasdale as the new president of its advanced wound management business.

Mr Teasdale has been with Smith & Nephew for 20 years and has experience in driving top line growth and expanding margins, the company said. Most recently, he served as senior vice president of advanced woundcare and was also, at the same time, interim president of North America for a year.

He is replacing Joe Woody who is leaving the company after three
years as president of the advanced woundcare division to pursue other
business opportunities in the US.

Mr Teasdale will start his new position on May 1, 2009 and will be
based at the advanced wound management division headquarters in Hull as
well as spending a substantial portion of his time at the US advanced
wound management headquarters in St Petersburg, Florida.

Dave Illingworth, CEO of Smith & Nephew, said: “Smith & Nephew is fortunate to have in Roger an excellent leader who can lead our advanced wound management division. With his long experience in the advanced woundcare market and his recent experience in the US Roger will be able to continue the development of the business and the pursuit of its strategy; to expand the business in the US, improve margins and build a significant market share in the negative pressure wound therapy market.”
