Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice-president and prime minister of the UAE, has issued a decree for the establishment of a national health council in Dubai.

The council will be headed by Humaid Mohammad Al Qutami, Health Minister who will select two representatives from each of the institutions: the Ministry of Health, the Abu Dhabi Health Authority, Dubai Health Authority, Dubai Health Care City, the Medical Services Sectors of the Interior Ministry and the Armed Forces as well as two representatives from the private health sectors.
The new council will coordinate action and work between federal and local healthcare establishments and authorities to improve the standards of healthcare delivery services in the country.
The council will also organize health-related conferences, seminars and workshops to ensure the achievement of the targeted objectives. It will work with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in drafting educational policies for health sciences and medicine inside the UAE and abroad.
The council will help foster cooperation between federal and local health establishments and concerned Arab, regional and international health bodies and work towards enhancing the healthcare services in the UAE.
