EdgeBio claimed that its Science Service concept includes everything starting from experiment and project design, to sample preparation, library construction, amplification and sequencing, bioinformatics, and reporting.
CLC bio’s CLC Genomics Server is an enterprise platform. It offers a server software platform for high-throughput sequencing, including flexible bioinformatics computing.
Justin Johnson, director of bioinformatics at EdgeBio, said: “In building out an integrated analysis infrastructure, it was imperative that we leveraged multi-faceted, commercial grade software with the ability to integrate open source tools and proprietary internal algorithms.
“CLC Bio provides a flexible and scalable enterprise platform which allows us to focus our efforts on providing scientific service to EdgeBio’s customers.
“EdgeBio’s services across many applications are built on top of CLC bio’s enterprise infrastructure, which allows us to provide new client-specific pipelines quickly and focus on the actual research as opposed to spending resources keeping a range of IT and bioinformatics systems online.”
Saul Kravitz, director of North American Consulting Services, said: “We view EdgeBio’s concept as the prototype of future sequencing service providers.”
