Japan-based Eisai has reported completion of construction of a new manufacturing and process research center in India. Eisai Knowledge Centre is situated in the special economic zone (SEZ) at Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma City in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India.
The company has invested a total of INR 2600m on the new facility. With the new facility the company plans to integrate active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and formulation manufacturing and API process research functions on one site.
The plant is expected to begin by he end of fiscal year 2010. The company will also conduct API process research and manufacture API and formulations of the company’s products.
Moreover the API production at the new plant will be handled by the new plant as well as the Kashima plant, Japan.
