FDA approves Lupin Pharma Nabumetone tablets

The US Food and Drug Administration has approved Lupin Pharmaceuticals' Nabumetone tablets, 500mg and 750mg strengths.

Nabumetone is in a group of drugs called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and it works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body.

Nabumetone is used to relieve pain, tenderness, swelling, and stiffness caused by osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Lupin claims that Nabumetone is the generic equivalent of GlaxoSmithKline’s Relafen tablets indicated for acute and chronic treatment of the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
