FDA warns against using Reumofan dietary supplements

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a warning to consumers against the use of Reumofan dietary supplements, manufactured in Mexico by Riger Naturals, after receiving reports of bleeding, stroke and death among people taking the pills.

According to FDA, Reumofan Plus and Reumofan Plus Premium that are marketed as natural remedies for arthritis and muscle pain contain several prescription drugs.

A chemical analysis revealed that Reumofan Plus contains three drugs, including the muscle relaxant methocarbomal and the anti-inflammatory drug dexamethasone, that can interact with other medications, causing life-threatening side effects in some patients.

The FDA initailly warned consumers about the products in June 2012, but says complications have continued to be reported.
