news.Innovation PEI has granted an Innovation PEI Pilot and Discovery Fund to Atlanta Vascular Research Foundation (AVRF) and collaborators at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) to continue research and development in combining nutraceuticals to magnify clinical benefits for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.

UPEI and AVRF under the collaboration have formed a new compound resulting in the chemical combination of 2 distinct nutraceuticals.
UPEI chairman Tarek Saleh said ongoing research suggests that this compound may reverse the inactivation of nitric oxide and may function as a powerful intravascular antioxidant.
AVRF executive director Bobby Khan said this grant will facilitate the continued collaboration between our institutions and the further development of this novel compound.
