Irvine Scientific To Open Second Manufacturing Facility In Tokyo

Irvine Scientific, a member of JX Holdings group, is set to open a new cell culture media production facility in Tokyo, Japan.

Irvine said that the new facility is expected to manufacture cell culture media for production of biopharmaceuticals, vaccines, monoclonal antibodies and other media’s used in pharmaceuticals, medicines, and research.

Irvine Scientific’s 1,720 square meter facility will be equipped with formulation and packaging equipment, and will utilise milling and blending equipment too.

Irvine Scientific claimed that the facility will have the capacity to produce 600,000 KG of powdered media per year. This doubles its current powder manufacturing capacity at Santa Ana facility and will bring the total capacity to over 1 million KG per year.

Irvine Scientific said that its Tokyo facility provides expanded capacity and system redundancy to their existing 75,000 sqft facility in Santa Ana.

Reportedly, the facility is expected to begin delivering its first product to customers in March 2011.
