John LaMattina of Pfizer will headline March Luncheon

This year’s March Luncheon is going to be fantastic. I look forward to the networking and educational opportunity at March Luncheon each year, but this year I’m really anticipating a great event.

John LaMattina, PhD, has agreed to give his presentation “Dispelling Pharma R&D Myths” at the luncheon. Dr. LaMattina is now retired from a 30-year career with Pfizer. Before retirement, he acted as Senior Vice President, Pfizer as well as President, Pfizer Global Research & Development.

Dr. LaMattina is an established global leader of research and development who is best known for his role in growing Pfizer’s pipeline in oncology and guiding its investments in biologics and vaccines. We couldn’t ask for a more qualified speaker. This is a very interesting and timely topic for the pharmaceutical industry, especially as economic troubles require companies to take a hard look at their R&D budgets.

But I’m happy to say that SOCMA members surveyed in this year’s Business Outlook Survey didn’t warn of impending cuts in R&D spending; in fact, they claim that spending in this area will remain roughly the same. Hopefully you’ll be able to join me in gaining some important R&D insights.
