Julphar breaks ground on $32m Algerian facility

The Gulf Pharmaceutical Industries, Julphar, has broken ground on its $32m manufacturing plant in Algeria.

The new plant, to be known as Albrat, is being built in partnership with the Algerian Ministry of Health.

The 5000ft² Albrat plant will be equipped with modern technology enabling production of Julphar products for the local market and further beyond into North Africa.

Production at the plant will take place in three stages: first phase will produce 30 million medicines, second phase will produce 20 million bottles of intravenous fluids and the third phase will produce 55 million units of injections.

The construction of the Algerian plant is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2014.
