Klockner Pentaplast, a European producer of rigid PET films, has announce that its new PET production capacity has commenced operation at its Crumlin, UK, manufacturing facility.

The new line produces high-performance polyester films, which will support the fast growing UK market. Klockner Pentaplast invested £3 Mio (E3.4 Mio /$4.4 Mio) for the expansion, with the support of the Wales Assembly Government (WAG). The expansion included production capacity and a building expansion.
Hans-Joachim Kogelnik, president and COO of Klockner Pentaplast, said: “This PET capacity expansion demonstrates Klöckner Pentaplast’s continued support of the growing global demand for high-quality PET films, especially in the UK. Despite the difficult economic climate, we are committed to servicing the market and our customers with a highly flexible supply capability and new product development.”
The Klockner Pentaplast Group is a producer of films for pharmaceutical, medical device, food, electronics, and general-purpose thermoform packaging, as well as printing and specialty applications. The Group is wholly owned by affiliates of The Blackstone Group.
