Kunnath Pharma Applies For License To Manufacture Musli Power Xtra

Earlier, Kerala drug control department issued a oral stop order of the product

India-based Kunnath Pharmaceuticals is seeking new license to manufacture its Musli Power Xtra with a formula including Safed Musli. The company has approached Ayurvedic Drug Control office in Thiruvananthapuram for the same.

Reportedly, Safed Musli (Chlorophytum Borivilianum)was not included in the Indian Pharmacopoeia, but after the inclusion Kunnath will require license to manufacture the product. Earlier the company was manufacturing the drug without proper license.

Earlier last month the company received orders from ayurvedic drugs control wing in Kerala, India to stop manufacturing. The order was issued after inspection of the company’s Moovattupuzha facility. The drug wing had soon initiated action for violation of provisions under the Drugs & Cosmetics Rules.

D Sivadas, drugs controller at Ayurvedic Division, said: “The application is with me. The expert committee will look into the rationality of the combinations and the genuineness of the references prescribed in the application, and everything being equal, the licence will be issued in due course.”

Kunnath’s Musli Power Xtra, is a used for treatment of infertility in both men and women. A bottle of 30 capsules comes for Rs 750 and a bottle with 60 capsules for Rs 1500.
