LAUTECH receives license from PCN to manufacture drugs

Osogbo-based Ladoke University Teaching Hospital (LAUTECH) has received a license from the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria (PCN) to commence drug manufacturing activity.

LAUTECH Public Relations Unit head Ayodele Adeyemo was quoted by Osun Defender as saying that the license was granted by the PCN Acting Registrar, GO Abumere and authorizes the company to manufacture oral liquid preparations.

As part of the license, the company has been ordered to comply with manufacturing practices and meet the standards required during the firm’s review.

LAUTECH chief medical officer professor Femi Fadiora was also quoted by the news agency as saying that the firm was capable of producing 10,000 liquid drugs for adults and children on a day-to-day basis.

"The drug firm was commissioned by Governor Rauf Aregbesola late last year," Fadiora added.

"This is a bid to ensure administration of quality drugs to patients and also enhance good healthcare services in its locale."
