Lilly appoints new vice president of Communications

Eli Lilly and Company (Lilly) has appointed Jeffrey Winton as vice president of Communications, effective from 11 October, who is also expected to become a member of the Lilly Global Corporate Affairs Leadership Team.

Winton will report to Bart Peterson, senior vice president, Corporate Affairs and Communications.

Winton is expected to take up the responsibility for Communications across Lilly, including oversight of corporate and product communications, employee communications, issues management, and digital and social communications.

Peterson said that Winton brings biopharmaceutical experience that will help guide Lilly and that he has a clear vision of how Lilly can expand and enhance its communications with an increasing audience.

Prior to joining Lilly Winton served as co-owner and managing partner of West Mill Consulting in Long Valley, New Jersey, which specialises in strategic global communications and public relations, marketing research and executive placement work.

In this capacity, he also served as interim head of Communications and Public Relations for Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals following the merger of Bayer and Schering (Berlex).

Before forming West Mill, Winton served in various senior leadership and communications roles with Schering-Plough, Pharmacia, Hoffmann-La Roche and American Cyanamid Company.
