Lonza revamps Microbial XS Technology E.coli platform

Lonza has upgraded Microbial XS Technology platform with auxotrophic selection system to achieve 100% plasmid stability in E.coli.

New plasmid stability system is designed to achieve plasmid stability throughout the fermentation process by eliminating an essential gene present in the company’s E.coli strains.

The essential gene encodes for an essential metabolic protein without which the cell fails to survive.

Upgraded XS Plasmid platform comprises deleted gene and makes sure that the cell that preserved the plasmid will live and produce target protein.

The upgrade is expected to facilitate trustworthy and scalable process besides increased productivity as a result of preventing non-producing cells.

The auxotrophic selection system is available with all of Lonza’s XS E. coli expression systems such as sugar inducible, depletion inducible, optimized iptg inducible platforms, and Lonza’s pDNA services platform.
