Manipal Cure and Care Launches Hand Sanitizer

To ensure broad spectrum anti-microbial activity as well as safety

Manipal Cure and Care has launched its Hand Sanitizer (Hand SanTyzer), a Rub-In Hand and Skin Disinfectant Fluid. The formulation is a combination of Iso-propyl Alcohol, 1-propanol and Chlorhexidine Gluconate and the composition is carefully chosen to ensure broad spectrum anti-microbial activity as well as safety.

The company claims that it has added Emollients and Humectants to overcome dryness, which is an inherent quality of a alcohol-based hand sanitizer. The product is currently available for institutional consumers in Bangalore and would be soon available in other parts of India.

The Hand SanTyzer contains 75% Alcohol (the alcohol being 45% Iso Propyl Alcohol and 35% of 1-propanol) to ensure rapid anti-microbial effect and 0.5% Chlorhexidine Gluconate to provide persistent effect.

The company added that Iso Propyl Alcohol is reported to be slightly more bactericidal than Ethyl Alcohol. The anti-bacterial effect of 1-propanol is superior to that of Ethyl Alcohol or Iso Propyl Alcohol. Thus taking overall merits and cost factors in to consideration, a combination of Iso Propyl Alcohol, 1-propanol and Chlorhexidine Gluconate was used to ensure rapid and persistent anti-microbial effect.
