Wheeler will succeed Gerard Barba, who will continue his work as the chairman of the board of directors
Before joining Marken, Wheeler served as the president and CEO of a contract manufacturing services company, Patheon.
Prior to that, he was the president of Valeant Pharmaceuticals and has previously held senior executive roles of increasing responsibility in manufacturing, marketing and engineering at GlaxoSmithKline.
Barba said the board feels that Wheeler can bring his experience from the drug manufacturing, biotechnology and traditional pharmaceutical industries to augment an already strong management team and continue Marken’s growth.
