McKesson unveils mobile delivery app for pharmacies

McKesson Pharmacy Systems & Automation (MPS&A) has introduced its McKesson Mobile Delivery application (app) that scans prescription labels, processes credit cards, captures signatures, and email receipts.

The application developed for Apple iOS devices including iPhone, iPad and iPad mini, can also support drive-through services within the pharmacy.

McKesson Pharmacy Systems & Automation president Nathan Mott said, "The new McKesson Mobile Delivery app allows pharmacists to bring their pharmacy services to the point-of-care, whether it’s the doorstep of a customer’s house or a hospital bedside.

"Taking advantage of this mobility, pharmacists can ensure that patients receive their medication on time or before they even leave the hospital. This level of pharmacist involvement in the continuum of care is helping increase patient medication adherence and drive down hospital admission rates."

The McKesson Mobile Delivery app works in tandem with a card reader that attaches to any Apple iOS device through the earphone socket and securely encrypts every swipe.

Funds from swiped payments are deposited directly into the pharmacy bank accounts.

The application was developed in partnership with Sage Payment Solutions, the payments division for Sage North America.

The app controls substance tracking that records details of the person receiving prescriptions that are classified as government regulated and the same can be monitored in real time using a secure online portal.
