Mylan releases Metoprolol Succinate Extended-release Tablets

Mylan, a generic and specialty pharmaceutical company, has announced the launch of Metoprolol Succinate Extended-release (ER) Tablets USP, 25 mg, 50 mg, 100 mg, and 200 mg, following FDA approval for its Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA).

Metoprolol Succinate Extended-release (ER) Tablets are the generic version of AstraZeneca’s Toprol-XL Tablets, which are indicated for the treatment of hypertension.

The launch of the drug is believed to reflect Mylan’s continued commitment to bring difficult-to-formulate medicines to market.

According to IMS Health, Metoprolol Succinate ER Tablets generated sales of around $1.78bn for the 12 months ending 30 Sepember 2011, in the US.
