Noven announces US launch of estradiol transdermal system

Noven Pharmaceutical has announced the US launch of Minivelle (estradiol transdermal system), which contains a plant-based estrogen for treating menopause symptoms including hot flashes and night sweats.

Minivelle, which the company claims is the smallest estrogen patch, is bioequivalent to company’s Vivelle, (estradiol transdermal system) and is 34% smaller than Vivelle-Dot.

The company said Minivelle, which is round with smooth curved edges, can help prevent lifting or snagging associated with everyday wear, leaves almost no sticky residue and causes no skin irritation.

During the company’s clinical pharmacology studies, Minivelle has showed 35% or less barely perceptible erythema and stayed on completely over the wear period.

Noven Pharmaceutical president and chief executive officer Jeffrey Eisenberg said, "The launch of Minivelle(TM) is an example of our commitment to providing innovative products tailored to women’s active and busy lifestyles, and adds to our growing portfolio – established more than 16 years ago – of treatment options for menopausal women."
