Olaax recalls natural herb supplement for weight loss

Olaax has agreed for a nationwide recall of its natural herb supplement for weight loss, following the US Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) warning that the supplement contains Sibutramine.

Being sold under the brand name Maxiloss Weight Advanced Softgels, the product was distributed nationwide in US from January 2011 to November 2012, claims Olaax.

Sibutramine, which was approved for the treatment of obesity, is known to substantially increase blood pressure and/or pulse rate and may present a significant risk to patients with a history of coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, or stroke, according to the FDA.

Recall includes all authentic lot numbers and known to be counterfeit lot numbers of authentic lots.

The FDA announced that any packaging types that are different from listed are counterfeit and any lot numbers not listed are counterfeit and are also part of the recall.

Sibutramine had been withdrawn from the US market in October 2010 for safety reasons.
