PharmStar Pharma files US patents for OTC pain reliever

PharmStar Pharmaceuticals, the US based developer, manufacturer and marketer of drugs, has filed for US patents for its over-the-counter (OTC) pain reliever Aquaprin, following the completion of R&D.

The patents cover the formulations, compositions and processing methodology of the liquid pain reliever drug.

Aquaprin is an acid free aspirin and is designed to instantly dissolve in water.

PharmStar CEO Howard Phykitt said the company has additional product line extensions in the final development stages.

"A soluble aspirin and acetaminophen, (the active ingredient in Tylenol) combination has been formulated to equal the active ingredients in Excedrin but with up to 10 times faster acting results and little to no gastric intolerance," Phykitt said.

"Both aspirin and acetaminophen are insoluble in water, but with PharmStar’s technology, both ingredients are solubilized into a clear good tasting drink in less than 30 seconds."
