Ranbaxy expands in North Africa, opens new facility in Morocco

Indian pharmaceutical company Ranbaxy has opened its new manufacturing facility at Casablanca, Morocco, in an effort to expand its presence in North African market.

Ranbaxy Morocco has been authorized by the Moroccan Health Authorities to commence manufacturing of its products at its Casablanca facility.

With this new facility, Ranbaxy is expected to access a $1bn pharmaceutical market in Morocco.

Ranbaxy Africa head Mahendra Bhardwaj said the company has a significant presence in Africa with its own ground operations in key markets.

"Morocco is one of the important markets and this manufacturing facility further reinforces our commitment to the people of Morocco and the African continent," Bhardwaj said.

Ranbaxy is also planning to extend the supply from the new facility to other African countries, in the coming years.

Ranbaxy now has three manufacturing facilities in Africa, including facilities in Nigeria and South Africa, respectively.
