Roswell Park Cancer Institute Selects McKesson For Revenue Management Services

Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) has selected McKesson to manage its medical billing processes. With McKesson’s Revenue Management Solutions (RMS) group taking over patient billing, accounts receivable management and reporting, the New York-based education and research institute gains a partner that understands the complexities of its business.

Revenue management solutions are part of McKesson’s comprehensive portfolio of physician solutions designed to reduce time spent on administrative tasks and streamline practice operations. As the source for software and services that improve practice performance, McKesson’s offering also includes clinical and EHR solutions.

RPCI said that the agreement calls for McKesson to provide services for 160 of RPCI’s physicians, many of whom are engaged in ongoing clinical trials.

In addition to a detailed needs analysis, the evaluation included site visits to McKesson operations and data centers and the engagement of a third-party auditor.

McKesson’s solution encompasses web-based reporting, document imaging and sophisticated data interfacing that RPCI expects to translate into streamlined operations, increased productivity and enhanced financial performance.

Jonathan Neumeister, executive director of revenue cycle at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, said: “To ensure we found the absolute best solution in the market, we conducted a very detailed evaluation.”

Pat Leonard, senior vice president and general manager of RMS group at McKesson, said: “During the selection process, we met with all levels of Roswell Park’s organization so we fully understood both the stakes and the expectations.

“We welcome the scrutiny that institutions of Roswell Park’s stature require. When given the opportunity, we have proven that we have the scale to manage complex academic medical businesses.”
