Piperacillin and tazobactam for injection, the generic version of Zosyn, is indicated to treat patients with moderate to severe bacterial infections.
Piperacillin is a penicillin antibiotic that fights bacteria in the body.
Tazobactam is an antibiotic similar to a penicillin that also fights bacteria in the body.
Sagent CEO and chairman of the board Jeffrey Yordon said their piperacillin and tazobactam vials will provide another important source of this frequently prescribed antibiotic to the medical community.
"Our product also includes the benefits of our PreventIV Measures packaging and labeling, designed to aid in the reduction of medication errors," Yordon said.
