Sopharma unveils plans for new pharma plant in Bulgaria

Sopharma, a Bulgarian pharmaceutical company, has announced a massive investment into a new production plant.

Sopharma will break ground for its new plant on 9 December 2010 and will be investing $47m, according to novinite.com.

The CEO of Sopharma Ognyan Donev, together with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov will break the ground for production.

The new facility will produce up to 4 billion pills per year, of more than 100 different types of medicine, and will employ 420 people upon completion.

The new plant will be Sopharma’s 13th production plant that meets the standards of good manufacturing practice (GMP), a quality system covering the manufacture and testing of pharmaceutical products.

Sopharma holds stable positions on its traditional foreign markets and has experienced growth in its exports on markets it has entered more recently such as Turkey, Serbia, Austria and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
