Spectra Analysis Instruments offers DiscovIR-LC FTIR technology

Spectra Analysis Instruments, a provider of automated FTIR (Fourier Transform InfraRed) detection products, has launched DiscovIR-LC, a (solvent removing) FTIR detector technology, providing solid phase analysis of HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography) and SEC (Size Exclusion Chromatography) separations.

Spectra Analysis Instruments claimed that DiscovIR-LC technology is the only available device to bring on line separation, purification, and concentration prior to solid phase FTIR identification to scientists committed to HPLC.

Automated LC-FTIR is used in life sciences, chemicals, polymers & copolymers, agriculture & foods, oil & gas, cosmetics, academia, and Government analytical laboratories.

Spectra Analysis Instruments Engineering senior vice president William Carson said that the company recognised the limitations of currently available technology and developed the fully-automated high performance HPLC-FTIR detection system capable of achieving the kind of repeatable qualitative analyses that pharmaceutical, polymer chemists and other-industry customers require.

"The DiscovIR-LC provides a range of chemical structure and troubleshooting capabilities in support of development and scale up for small molecule and polymer formulations," Carson said.

"By providing an on-line chemistry solution which is often deployed in parallel with LC-MS (Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry), the DiscovIR fills in the gaps left by the inherent limitation of LC-MS to arrive at molecular structure from molecular mass."
